Gregorys’ Acid Attack
In honour of anti-bullying week 2017 we share the story our patient Gregory from Nigeria. He talks about his acid attack that took place back in march 1999. Gregory has since been living with the effects of his attack for over 20 years.
In the video he talks about the range of emotions he went through in the immediate days following his attack, the social stigma attached with facial disfiguration and he reassures our watchers that there is life after an acid attack. Unfortunately NHS England has recently reported an increase in number of people requiring specialist treatment for acid attacks in the last three years, making Gregory’s story more fitting than ever.
Gregory also takes the time to thank the physicians and specialist consultants that treated him in the aftermath of his attack.
The process to recovery has been long and challenging however Gregory refuses to let the stigma of his attack hold him back.
Gregory received an ocular prosthesis from Kanti Fatania at Eye Excellence of London.
