  • ♪ ♫ ♪ Baby you’re a firework… ♫ ♪ ♪

Now that Halloween is done and dusted it’s time to start getting excited for the 5th of November. Not wishing to put a dampener on your Bonfire (night) we just wanted to draw your attention to health and safety when handling fireworks as when carelessly used they’ve been known to cause serious eye injuries including corneal abrasions, traumatic cataracts, retinal detachment, optic nerve damage and rupture of the eyeball – all of which can lead to potential blindness or loss of an eye.

    Just remember then…

    • Light sparklers one at a time and remember to wear gloves
    • Never giver sparklers to a child under 5
    • Buy fireworks marked BS7114
    • Store fireworks in a closed box
    • Follow the instructions on each firework
    • Light them at arms length using a taper
    • Stand well back
    • Never go back to a lit firework
    • Never put fireworks in your pocket
    • Never throw fireworks
    • Keep pets indoors

    Have fun, be safe!
